I was sent this Washington Post blog post (Ezra Klein) this morning. The topic is right in the wheel house for an energy client of ours. The graphic within the post blew me away.
In an incredibly thoughtful and insightful way, it lays out the sources and uses of U.S. energy consumption, what is used vs. wasted, and generally just how complex and messy the whole continuum really is. In a sense, it’s out of control. How did we get here? How do we stop the waste (which, you’ll agree, is beyond significant.)
Take a look for yourself. Study it for a few minutes. You may agree with me after you do that much of our energy-related national crisis goes away if we can figure out how not to waste so much of it. Changing up the origins of our electricity and fuel is important, using more of what we struggle, sweat, suffer and die for is mandatory.
